A trip to Ubud, the cultural heartland of Bali, is an excellent way to
get an understanding of Balinese art and culture. We will witness the
Barong and Kris dance at Batubulan, then Celuk, home of gold and
silversmiths, and Mas, famous for its fine woodcarvings. A visit to a
local family compound in Singapadu will give us a new perspective on
the way of life of this friendly people. Afterwards we will see the
best examples of Balinese paintings of classical, naive, traditional
and modern style in Ubud. Our last stop will be at Wanara Wana monkey
forest where live dozens of long tailed macaques considered sacred by
the locals. Then we will proceed to Petulu Village, famous for its
white herons sanctuary.
